Ski Arpa

◉ San Esteban · Snow center / catski · Aconcagua Valley

Ski Arpa is a catski mountain center in the San Esteban foothills: with no ski lifts, snowcats take skiers and snowboarders up to untouched snow slopes above 3,000 metres, with descents facing the Aconcagua massif. It is one of Chile’s freeride benchmarks and the host of the Valle El Arpa IFSA Qualifier 4★.

What it is and what to expect

At Ski Arpa there are no ski lifts: you go up by snowcat, which takes groups to the upper mountain to descend wide open fields of untracked snow. It is a full-day, guided mountain experience aimed at intermediate to advanced skiers and snowboarders looking for backcountry terrain.

  • Catski: snowcat access, no lifts and no crowds
  • Untouched snow slopes and big vertical drops above 3,000 m
  • Views of the Aconcagua massif, the highest peak in the Americas
  • Full guided day; intermediate–advanced level recommended
  • Winter season (roughly June to September, snow-dependent)
  • Host of the Valle El Arpa IFSA Qualifier 4★ freeride event

How to get there

  1. Ski Arpa sits in the foothills of San Esteban, Los Andes Province; the meeting point and snowcat transfer are arranged by the operator when you book.
  2. It is a mountain road with no public transport: a high-clearance vehicle or the transfer included in the program is recommended.
  3. In winter the road may be snowy; confirm conditions and times with Ski Arpa before heading up.

When to go

The season depends on snow, usually between June and September. Off-season, San Esteban offers hot springs, wineries and mountains you can combine on the same trip.
