August to December 2026 calendar: from the U-17 Volleyball World Championship to the Valle El Arpa Freeride, plus national holidays, rodeos and open wineries.
The FIVB U-17 Girls’ Volleyball World Championship comes to the Aconcagua Valley: from August 6 to 16, Los Andes and San Felipe host group-stage matches of a tournament with 24 national teams from five continents.
Second round of the official figure skating ranking organized by Lipach Chile. Note: despite the venue’s name (Colegio San Esteban Mártir), it takes place in Lo Barnechea (Santiago), not in the town of San Esteban in the Aconcagua Valley.
South America’s first ski resort (1949) is still open in August and September: 19 runs, a hotel and Laguna del Inca, just over two hours from Santiago via Los Andes.
Valle El Arpa, the catskiing mountain center in San Esteban, will host the IFSA Qualifier 4★ freeride event: from September 9 to 12, riders from several countries descend its untouched snow slopes chasing points for the international circuit.
The most widely covered event of the year: every town celebrates with fondas, cueca, chicha, rodeos and barbecues. The valley’s second tourist peak.
The Chilean rodeo kicks off in September and October. The valley’s medialunas host regional competitions with riders from all over Chile.
Annual pilgrimage (since 1990): thousands of young people walk 27 km from Chacabuco to the Sanctuary of Saint Teresa of the Andes.
The valley’s wineries open their doors with special tastings, tours and activities for everyone, timed with the spring wine season.
A Christmas tradition in several towns: open-air theatrical reenactments of the Nativity, with residents and local organizations taking part.
