How to get there
- From Santiago: 146 km, about 2 h 30 min via Route 57 (Los Libertadores) and the international Route 60, climbing the Caracoles switchbacks to the Portillo ski resort (2,900 m).
- This is high-mountain terrain next to the Los Libertadores border pass. In winter: chains required, police checks and possible closures — check that the pass is open that morning.
- No direct public bus; go by car or with a tour/transfer (for example, the Ski Portillo shuttle).
